VISCOUNT  DURALVAN  16 foot   - with  fibreglass ends-  rare vintage caravan from 1968-1970!!!Registered until 4th November 2017 Rego No: Z04908 Chassis number 326A Viscount calls it 16' but think its actually 15'  ( Just checked the original specs: it's 15'6 7'6 living space so 4.72 metres  x 2.29 metres)Major servicing and work carried out years ago, now just needs new owner to add their own finishing touches and outfit the van to their own requirements.  I've had some fun fixing it up and taking it away for couple of trips and would have liked to have kept it and do few more things to it and take it on some longer trips but my life has taken new turn and can't see myself having the place to store it or the time or energy to use it any more. Very rare model with fibreglass ends   -  for more some fascinating info on the viscount model range see these websites:  www.ditzygypsy.proboards.com/thread/299/viscount-caravans-sydney-nsw                                  www.vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/2038/viscount-caravans-fullarton-cabramatta-dandenong Strong and Lightweight weighs in at 700kg with towball weight of just 26kg!!  - tows well and does not sway even at 100k. even medium sized car could easily tow this. Note the RMS converts the 700kg to 1040KG tare 1120GVM on the rego papers but have the original weighbridge slip if you are that interested. The RMS also lists it as 1972 model maybe that's because that was when it was first registered.Aluminium framed and aluminium clad on strong steel chassis, well engineered, this will never rot like the old timber framed ones.Best headroom of all the viscounts, this is much higher than the other vansAlko Electric brakes bit of overkill at 700kg but they work so well you can feel them holding back the tow vehicle even at 6.0 on my Teconsha controllerNew tyres including spareFull size traditional canvas annexe with windows and flyscreen Pick up only at Kellyville NSWCall Wayne on 0411209731 if you have any questions I'll be happy to help you.

 The good bits:
A major service has been done years agoPrevious owner had removed the Kitchen and Dining Area which suited me as prefer to cook outside the van and like the open area as it is more flexible in how you can use it. I've even used the van as Building Site Office for couple of years before tidied it up. We've had adults sleeping in the van, we just used air mattresses in the open area. installed particleboard bench where the kitchen was and it has been handy.Steel chassis and underbody fully undercoated and resprayed New paint Exterior scrubbed, sanded, caulked and repainted in UV resistant acrylic paint have original photos prior to restoration if interested.Wheel bearings checked and found to be in excellent condition, spare set included but not necessaryAlko Electric Brakes with upgraded cablingNew brake lights and clearance lights fitted all round.New tyres fitted, only driven to Bathurst and back twice so around 600 km use only.New Jockey wheel.Wheel clamp includedCeiling lining intact !! Normally these have rotted away. The usual problem with these is the window sills were made of chipboard and over the years leaks and condensation cause the chipboard sills to swell and fall apart.  The sills provide structural integrity to the windows and the ends of the caravan. This one came like that so we replaced the sills with solid pacific maple and replaced all the stainless steel screws that hold it together. There is full set of clean shear white curtains in excellent condition that fit on elastic draw cords, not shown on the pictures There are flyscreens on every window and roof hatchThe window latches actually work I've replaced most of them with replica Viscount fittings The original Viscount clock still works and keeps good time!!Heaps of little cupboards and storage hatches for all odds and bods.Plastic steps included. The annexe is well made and fits together logically for watertight connection.  There is draw bead fitted to the side of the van through which the main edge of the annexe roof is drawn. There are plenty of rafter tubes and poles to providing sturdy structure.  There are clear windows with zippers and flyscreens all in excellent order. The pictures show the first and only time the annexe was assembled so it looks bit crumpled as we didnt set it up properly with all the poles.  There is even closing skirt piece that fits to the side of the van to block off drafts and mosquitoes from the under the van it fits with press studs all very simple and logical. The poles stow away in the tube at the rear of the van.The Dodgy bits:I did not check the 240v wiring other than trying to get the lights to work I've only ever used it on unpowered sitesThe internal 12v lights are not working haven't spent much time trying to get them to work but it probably wouldn't take much.  I bought some LED bayonet globes to replace the standard bayonet globes but never got around to installing them. There are some 12v wires running under the beds which suspect may be for lighting but they are laying loose and should be secured. The aluminium roof has few large hailstone dings but hey that's part of the character! Signs of its previous life.A feral kid kicked football into the van at our last campsite and cracked the glass on one side it costs about $30 pane to replace as I've replaced one before when first bought the van but it doesn't leak and it's not likely to fall out as the seal holds it in. Another pane has small crack that has been sealed with silicon. The window seals need replacing all around they've been like that in the years I've owned it and I've just lived with it. The seals are readily available on roll and are quite easy to replace. Water does get in to the rear left corner not sure where its coming from as all the roof seams have been recaulked with polyurethane sealant  - it's most likely due to the window seals The holding nut on the jockey wheel clamp has been rounded off so you have to use stillson spanner or vice grips to tighten it.For reasons known only to themselves the previous owner removed the kitchen bench, gas fridge and cooker, one of the dining seats and the original dining table and all of the seat cushions. His demolition derby left rough edges and nails and staples protruding in places i've tidied up most of that. The gas lines are there but have been cut off where they popped up through the floor into what was once the kitchen bench. If gas appliances are required internally the line could simply be reconnected at floor level. There is some decayed chipboard on the end of the dining seat. Some of the veneer is lifting on some of the cupboard doors and some handles are missing. The original folding steps are missing but the bracket is still there if you are handy you could adapt some after market ones to fit.The vinyl floor is ugly and has couple of tears in it which are trip hazard. The veneered chipboard lining to the skylight opening is slightly swollen from condensation or past water damage and could do with new painted trim. The water tank under the floor has large holes in itThe drug addict who lived in the caravan before bought it lost his key one night and got cranky and ripped the door apart. I've repaired it as best as could but it's not perfect. The rim lock fitted to the van does make it easy to lock yourself out.A couple of the panels in the annexes had some hessian collars sewn in along the seams which assume were there to provide compression fit between panels but they have decayed due to the previous idiot owner having stored the annexe under the van. It does not affect the use of the annexe which has been thoroughly cleaned and stored properly during our ownership. The laminate edging on the cupboard installed is lifting; not sure why, must be water getting in somewhere
What it needs to make it better or what was going to do to make it better:Fix internal lights and fit floodlights for campingGive it wash to get rid of those new dirt stains running off the roofMaybe fix the 240v wiring in case ever went to powered site.Setup proper 12 volt power distribution switchboard for battery and solar powerPermanently mount the TV the mounting plate is already there.Install new window seals Maybe think about perspex replacements for the glass if I'm going to install new seals.Install much better kitchen bench than the one I've put in and maybe install small sink with an electric pumpInstall 12 volt built in fridgeInstall new retro look floor vinyl tiles or timber laminate flooring from bunningsFit new door lock that doesn't lock you out! always kept spare key in secret hidey hole used it lots of times)What's NOT INCLUDED :The Waeco fridges are not included they are worth $400 each ($1000 each new) will be selling them separately. The TV is not included but the flat screen tv wall bracket is included so you can mount it on the wall next to the door Gas cylinder not includedPortable tables, portable lights, chairs and camping equipment and accessories.Foam mattresses on the beds not included as plan on keeping them for camping but up for discussion anyway.Tekonsha brake controller is fitted to my ute and is NOT included.Rules:
