We are selling our 1957 Airstream with shell off full frame-uprestoration. Originally hand built inCalifornia by post WWII airplane and outdoor enthusiasts, it is an iconic piece of timeless American craftsmanship. It is one of kind project that began inCalifornia when she was recovered from family reluctant to sell after lovingly caringfor it until they could no longer do so. We bought it and was immediately offered tidy sum as she was pulled outfrom between the two buildings that had sheltered it for years even though it was completely gutted and had several large holes in the floor. It was love at first sight. I took the trailer to Texas to an expert in shell off full frame recovery and completed the frame restoration, which was overall in great originalcondition, but we still made the decision to install extensive future protections. We installed new axles with increased weightcapacity, brakes assemblies and all new towing connections. We also purchased new wheels and high-performancetrailer tires. The trailer has an all new foundation and with an upgraded weight capacity and designed around four-inch lift to provide better ground clearance. After the structuralwork, we had all new electrical with harness installed and all new plumbing includingnew waste tanks and new fresh water tank. All exterior lights were replaced with LED lighting. We then transported the trailer to fifth-generation carpenter inOklahoma City. We had designed the floor planlayout based upon our ideal experiences with other Airstreams and collaborated withthis brilliant carpenter for custom built cabinetry throughout the trailer. The dual counter surfaces in the kitchen arewonderful features, not to mention the additional storage. The carpenter’screativity and amazing refinements really make this trailer special. There are self-closing drawers and cabinetdoors throughout. thoughtfullydesigned closet with shoe stalls, easy to lift doors for under seat storage,retractable spice rack just to name few. There is good deal of practical storage throughout the trailer. The living area has combined surroundseating dining and living area. Thetable is adjustable for coffee table height to dining height and anywhere inbetween. The bedroom has full/queen bed with under bedstorage and the bathroom has new Dometic porcelain toilet and storage for basic needs. The trailer is loaded with many surprisefeatures that make her very special. From spice cabinets to medicine cabinetsto beautiful décor features this has been labor of love.The last phase of this rebuild relied on experts and friendsto install appliances, state of the art electrical panels, quality fixtures,designer lighting, cabinet pulls and handles, and historical and thematic décor. The Airstream metal badges have been installed. One gem in this trailer is the original, 1957California license plate that is carefully and centrally framed. A quick recap: this trailer has new electrical, plumbing,water waste tanks, water heater, cabinets, fixtures, and lightingthroughout. The frame, subfloor, andbase floor are all brand new. Theexterior lighting is brand new except for the original rear classic pancake lights that have newly installedinterior housings. The windows and doorswork perfectly and lock smoothly. Thetongue has brand new over-engineered electric lift with loading lights. This trailer was designed as practical over the road andoff-road trailer with completely sealed underbelly. Is has an additional inches of groundclearance. It is light weight and canbe pulled by any regular SUV, van or small truck. The new axles, however, allow this trailer tocarry more weight than other trailers of this era if that is something you need. Please note this trailer is designed with all electricalfeatures in order to be compatible with solar power source. It travels with full sized and new marinegrade battery and carries with it full and powerful Lithium electric generatorand portable solar panels. It comes with an onboard infrared cooktop and copper pans, small lockable mounted refrigerator,and nice microwave. It has instant onwater tank and full sized electrical convertors for camping via an electriccord to 30amp hookup. There are outletsand USB ports everywhere. Lighting workson 12 volts and 110-volt systems. Thereis no shower built in the trailer as we originally planned to install an exteriorshower system, which is an easy option to complete.This has been four-year effort and things have changed forme during this time. will not be ableto enjoy or use this trailer and it is very sad thing for me. But, after encouragement and the realizationthat someone will truly love her…I am selling her. will be donating portion of proceeds to aworthy organization assisting families recovering from the wildfires inCalifornia. This trailer was built inCalifornia and no matter where she ends up, someone in California will beblessed.I will never recover the amount of money that have putinto her.
