I know it's always said, but am very sad to sell this van. You will probably know that they don't turn up very often with this combination of engine, syncro and LWB. Prior to me owning the van it was used by outdoor training providers in the Peak District as minibus for transporting clients to remote locations in all weathers. personally used this van for work for years as an employee and had 'first dibs' if it ever came up for sale. It was my dream set up. It was always serviced regardless of cost and mileage, it's shame the bodywork doesn't reflect the mechanical condition.
I completed the camper conversion myself to our own requirements to suit my wife, young child and me. Conversion consists of:
- Side panels and pillars in the rear were sound deadened, insulated, ply lined and carpeted. - Floor was stripped, cleaned, rust treated, foil insulated, 18mm ply and finished with Altro safety vinyl flooring. - Floor drilled and fitted with genuine VW 'mushroom' bolts to safely and correctly secure VW caravelle double seat into the rear position. This is of course removeable in seconds and has three point seat belt and lap belt. All using proper VW anchor points. - Split charge system. 100ah leisure battery under passenger seat, voltage sensing relay. Power to rear of van. Auxiliary fuse board. - built the units out of 12mm ply which like the natural look of so treated it with Osmo clear oil. - The fridge runs off the battery so no need for vents in the side of the van. It's quiet and efficient, being compressor cooled. Gets super cold. (Expensive!)- the cupboard is entirely for storage as the clean water is stored under the bed and waste water goes out through the floor. (I don't know why people sometimes  have cupboard and then fill it with water containers?!)- lots of storage. - huge 'boot' under the bed. - The eberspacher heater is located under the van in stainless steel box and routed through to the oem caravelle style rear heater vent, which is neat. - The bed is the same width as standard double bed in house.- mattress is inch memory foam. The bed is very simple and just folds out over the rear seat leaving maximum floor space and maintains access to all cupboards/fridge while in bed mode! - LED lights in rear. Plus battery level indicator, 12v outlet and double USB charging port.
Cab area: - Seats are both in good condition but don't match. - Passenger swivel captains on FASP swivel base. Safety rated. - Cup holder/speaker box. (Speakers need wiring.)- Gearstick extension- Wind deflectors
Mechanically sound. Service religiously (due again in 800 miles) Engine fuel pump timing set up by top VW van mechanic while ago and it Does run sweet. All new discs and pads in august. rear calliper fitted in Feb. Amazing on snow, ice, wet grass, mud etc. Doesn't have the clearance of Landy but traction is excellent.
It really is just the bodywork which lets this van down, nothing terrible but all wheel arches are rusty plus few areas (such as fuel filler flap) which have been treated and repaired....but not professionally. guess you can have it all.
Genuine reason for sale....we're expecting twins....!
