Its with very heavy heart we've got to move on our continent smashing, stealth bomber demo-van however, needs must as we've got to make way for very similar albeit SWB variant for our conversion programme.
This one came into our ownership via our good pals over at SCOTT, yea the guys who make the Skis and Bikes. That SCOTT. They have fair few vans on the go however when they start to tick over into the third year in their ownership, rather than them going back to VW they'd rather they went into the action sports trade. They give us call to see if we can afford such things and, in this instance, especially off the back us learning the spec on this particular van we dropped everything and had to jump on the opportunity.
This one was particularly attractive as it hadn't had skis or bikes bashing the interior as it was in-fact the rep who had the account to sell the footwear thus not having such hard life. He also admitted although he did fair few miles they were very much motorway miles as his area covered the North.
I know the rep who owned this one from delivery and it was very well looked and with it being in warranty, it had everything it needed while under the ownership of SCOTT.
When we became the new custodians it still had year of warranty which we used for basic service and not much else as all was well. It was only as the bus edged towards 90k that we set about giving it thorough breathing on. The treatment included full S+S Kombi conversion with carbon fibre drop down bunk, Bilstein B14 shocks, roof bars, awning rails, Thule top box and set of our matt black 18' steel wheels. While we were at it, it got new cam belt, tensioners, fluids, and general good going over.
We've traveled far and wide in this economic missile. It is mechanically perfect and should be good to go for another 50k miles without needing very much at all.
This spec, in our eyes is the holy grail. Heavy duty T32 chassis, Black on Black, Kombi with dual captain seats, Blue-motion engine and all the Gucci high-line bits along with the very desirable tailgate option. We threw all the best bits we make, along with the best after market upgrades available.
If you're unfamiliar with what we do at STITCHES STEEL try and find moment to head over to the site or the instagram and you'll find this bus littered within our content along with even blog from when we collected it.
The van has numerous little dints and dings along with few blemishes however we'd still consider it very presentable wagon. This van is the very essence of daily driver during the week come weekend adventure wagon at the weekend. Nothing walks the line better in our eyes and this spec personifies contemporary van life for us. It comfortably sleeps two adults and two nippers along with hauling boards and supplies for extended adventures while being very economical, reliable, presentable and smart daily vehicle as it is Kombi.
A brilliant brilliant van which will be missed by us wholeheartedly. The new custodian will have free reign over the warehouse getting to re clad it with new seat covers, awnings, and any other accessories they wish.
It has full blown magazine feature looming with the certain VW magazine which has the biggest readership of any VW mag in Europe.
I've just came across the receipt for it from new, quite bit North of £40k which is wild! Especially as it still feels like it could be new behind the wheel.
A brilliant machine. Just in time for summer and some adventures. We'll be gutted to see it go.
Thanks for taking the time to look, anything else please shoot me mail!oli@stitchesandsteel.com
