Very reluctantly for sale is my 1999 VW T4 2.5tdi LWB factory high top campervan, the ONLY reason it's up for sale is I've just completed the conversion of VW T5 factory high top as seen in the picture. This van is fully documented on my Youtube Camper Conversion  Channel with over 60 videos of the van build, maintenance and paint job etc.  See the video at the bottom of the advert for walk around of the van.
This is the ultra reliable 2.5TDI 88hp model so not the fastest van in the world but it will always start up and get you where you want to go without issues. Mileage is relatively low for the vans age at just 183,500 which for 20 year old van isn't bad at all, well within average range. The van feels very strong and have recently had major service carried out on the van including both cam injector belts being swapped, water pump, new radiator fitted, full oil coolant change etc with receipt to show the work was done just 3000 miles ago! have owned this van for nearly years and completed the conversion myself to very nice standard and the DVLA have re-registered the van as motor caravan which opens up cheaper camper insurance and allows you to travel legally at 70mph rather than standard panel van limit of 60mph. had the conversion checked over by registered caravan motorhome engineer to ensure the gas electrics in the conversion are both safe and fit for use once the conversion was completed and have just had it reinspected for peace of mind for its new owner (inspection docs included). This is an officially registered motor caravan, not panel van with some stuff chucked in the back to make "day van" which could invalidate normal van insurance.  Being registered as camper means faster speed limits, higher insurance valuation and lower premium costs.
I have spent lot of time and money on the conversion and have documented every single job on my YouTube channel along the way from insulating, carpet lining, building the units, fitting the gas heater, everything has been filmed to show the entire conversion.  To see the full conversion in detail, click the following link to go to my youtube channel Youtube Camper Conversion .  Any prospective buyer can sit back and watch me build this entire van from an empty motorbike delivery van to the registered camper van you see today so there are no unknowns in regards to the conversion or materials used etc. The interior of the van is in excellent condition, the exterior is in very good condition.
The van is in very good general condition.  removed all the surface rust from the van 18 months ago and then painted the van with Rustoleum anti-rusting paint to try and protect the van for the long term and there are only few minimal signs of any rust coming back through 18 months later.  spent week sanding back the Rustoleum paint to get nice shiny finish to the paintwork, it's not perfect or comparable to bodyshop finish but its vast improvement on how the van looked before started the bodywork overhaul and is still very presentable.
The van passed its MOT with no problems and has had clean bill of health on the past couple of MOT's which shows this is solid van, feel free to check the MOT history online as its never failed on anything major at all. As mentioned, the ONLY reason am selling is due to the completion of the conversion of T5 high top and can't justify having campervans as thats just being greedy.  Unfortunately can't keep both camper vans and have had trouble deciding which to keep and which to sell, so if you're interested in the T5, drop me message and I'll happily keep the T4.

VAN MAINTENANCE
This van has been extremely reliable since I've owned it. The van was bought directly from motorbike sales servicing centre who had it for over 11 years and the van was used to collect and deliver motorbikes for those 11 years so it's had very easy life over the years. All servicing was done in house by the motorbike servicing company at the time and due to this, the van has minimal service history documented. When bought the van it was getting sluggish to start so replaced the starter motor and fitted new Bosch starter battery and now it fires up on the first turn of the key, every time.  As there was minimal service history due to it being carried out in house, have recently had major service carried out with new belts, water pump, radiator and all fluids changed etc just 3000 miles ago. The van passed the last MOT's first time with no work required which shows it's really solid van. Anyone who knows these vans knows there are types of these vans out there, the type that constantly drains your wallet on monthly basis and the other kind which are the solid as rock type of vans and this certainly solid as rock, never broken down or any issues at all. I've done 500 mile round trips to Scotland in this van with zero issues at all, turn the key and it fires up and get you where you want to go, what more can you ask?

Serviced or replaced parts include:
Timing belt water pump
Brake pedal sensor replaced
New horn
New starter motor
New starter batterySliding door rollers
New Radiator
Full service
Minor items that need looking at:
Sliding door barrel lock front missing, but lock still works fineExhaust heat shield can sometimes rattle, probably just needs blob of weld to secure it againRadio area is missing, replacement here but not fitted yet but included in the saleThe paint isn't perfect but it's certainly very presentable
The van has only covered 10,000 miles in the past years as it was used as backup vehicle for the motorbike company towards the end of their ownership and it's been second vehicle for me since I've owned it. have used this to go wild camping in Scotland including during the beast from the east last year over winter and it performed superbly, nice and warm with no issues at all. I'm sure I'll have forgotten something in the listing along the way so if you want more details, pictures or want to view the van, just drop me message, give me call to discuss or view the videos at my YouTube channel  Youtube Camper Conversion  for more details.
