PRIVATE SALE!!! Hi and welcome to this listing for our incredible Mercedes Autotrail Chieftain Motorhome based on Mercedes 609D chassis running gear.
We've owned her for just over three years and had some great times touring around Scotland. She's always been totally reliable, pleasure to drive and great fun she'll be greatly missed.The photos hopefully show the size and facilities she has to offer compared to many motorhomes this has loads of room to move around and is incredibly comfortable and practical. 
Unfortunately, due to health issues work commitments, she is not being used as much as she should, so we reluctantly offer her for sale. Some of the main features:v  4 litre normally aspirated diesel with speed manual transmission achieving approximately 25mpg. v  RHD, 24ft long, 7’6” wide, 9ft high. v  Twin starter batteries in good order with isolator switch, 24 Volt truck electrics.v  First registered 06/10/1988, but in exceptional condition for its age.v  170,000 kilometres which is 106,000 miles, averaged 3,500 miles per year.v  Very easy to drive with power steering excellent visibility.v  Cruises comfortably at 55/60 mph, capable of higher speeds but Hey! You’re on your holidays!v  No electronic engine management system to go wrong, no timing belt, cheap easy to service repair. All parts easily available from Mercedes main dealer, most service items available from motor factors.v  Please Note!! This vehicle has been fitted with the newer Vario front (bonnet, wings, grille lights etc.) The Vario was manufactured until 2013 so makes this one appear lot newer than it is. private plate would clinch it.v  MOT test expires 24th April 2020.v  Externally there is gas locker, another large locker which once housed generator. Additionally, there is another handy locker which allows access to space under the rear seats.v  Stainless steel wheel covers fitted.v  Cab has multi-adjustable high back seats with another removable one which fits to an adjustable rail system just behind front seats. Walk-through from cab to rear accommodation.v  Radio/CD player in cab with speakers front rear.v  Double bed over the cab U-shaped rear lounge seating converts to further double.v  Kitchen has hob oven/grill both running on LPG.v  3-way fridge with freezer compartment, decent size, never tried on gas. Also has mains freezer installed.v  Sink drainer with hot cold running water. v  Onboard underslung fresh waste tanks, 100 litres each, new years ago kept clean since. Electric level gauges installed on control panel.v  Cassette toilet with electric flush.v  Shower fold-up sink, both with hot cold water supply. Extractor fan opening skylight. v  All windows have either blinds, curtains or both.v  Lots of interior lighting both mains 12V.v  Exterior/awning light.v  3 opening skylights front, centre rear.v  Huge wind out awning.v  Mains power hook-up cable with euro adapters included. Several 13-amp sockets lights installed.v  Loads of upper storage lockers all round and lots of room under rear seating. Even has an illuminated drinks cabinet.v  Full height wardrobe adjacent shelved cupboard.v  Eberspacher diesel heater fitted with its own separate fuel tank separate pair of batteries. This can be safely (& economically) left on all night if required.v  Pair of batteries for all the twelve volt lighting etc. circuits. There are batteries in total, all in excellent condition.v  Electric control panel.v  Tow bar electrics fitted.v  Six excellent condition tyres nearly new spare mounted on rear.v  Roof mounted air conditioner/heater fitted. (heating works for sure, not sure about A/C)v  Reversing camera. (currently stopped working but replacement will be supplied if can’t figure it out) Please note that while this vehicle is (in our opinion) quite exceptional for its age it is not perfect and has few age-related faults.These range from the odd chip/blemish/bubble in the paintwork to general wear to interior finishes. i.e. silvering on mirrors coming off in places, the freezer door in the fridge not self-closing, one of the interior lights not working there will undoubtably be others, but minor things in the big picture.Full Service carried out last year .Just had the van Professionally Valeted inside and out so ready to go.We would strongly advise that you come see this vehicle in the flesh before you make any decisions to buy. keep it at my workplace which is in Edinburgh so is available Mon-Fri 8am – 4pm, other times by arrangement.I have probably missed out some things, please ask as many questions as you wish, we’ll get back to you ASAP.
