This is DIY conversion by an enthusiastic amateur.  Three of us spent six months in 2017/18 insulating and fitting out the van to drive to the Alps for the 2018 Skiing season.  We drove through Eastern Europe to Austria and then back to the UK.  then drove back through Europe to Greece in summer 2018 and lived in the van on an island near Turkey teaching kite surfing. drove back to the UK at the end of the summer and have used the van as my car and occasional camper since then.  I'm now off to university for three years so don't need van or car.
The positives are the size, layout, sleeping accommodation and equipment. The downside is the van itself is old and needs time and money to get through the next MOT.  Work required includes: two new tyres, brakes and handbrake, prop-shaft imbalanced and king pin bearing on the nearside front wheel.  Probably hundreds of pounds if you do it yourself or thousands if you pay garage.
Insulation:  Floor, walls, ceiling and door are all double cavity and filled with loft insulation.
Heating: Lorry/yacht style Diesel/Electric.  The heat is provided by diesel burner, fed from the main fuel tank.  An electric fan blows hot air into the van.  It's super-efficient and costs only few pence per hour.  I've been toasty when it's -15c outside.  The van does not have any windows or roof-light.
Solar:  There are large solar panels on the roof on hinged bracket so they can be included for optimum efficiency.  They generate 300w in daytime sunlight which is more than enough to power everything in the van.
Electric: Two brand new well maintained 110Amp/Hour Domestic batteries.  The charging unit charges the batteries from the Solar panels, mains or the van engine's alternator.  It also has automatic discharge protection and can be monitored and controlled with your phone via bluetooth.
TV/Music: 27 inch Touchsceen HDMI monitor on retractable wall bracket.  Connected to Raspberry Pi for iPlayer or downloaded films.  200w Audio Amp and stereo speakers on shelf-mounts (see pictures).  Additional speakers to mount outside for summer parties.
Two double beds, carefully designed so that you can sit upright on them with loads of deep storage space in various size lockers behind the beds so that the main area is kept clear of junk.
Large comfy leather sofa to sit, eat, drink and watch TV.  Makes decent bed for guest (it's longer than you can see in the photos).
Food preparation surface plus optics rack.  Note there is no sink or water.  We used local facilities for washing and had bottled water in coolbox.  We used portable gas camping stove for cooking.
This will be great project for someone with some mechanics skills to fix the van.  Or good starting point for conversion of another newer commercial van.
