1994 Ford Transit Mk5 semi high topSmiley van (Yes the grill is mk4, changed it as they are better quality and in my humble opinion they look better too)Low mileage, 90 Thousand. The clocks in kilometres as fitted from knew, also had tacho, unused since new.One previous keeperCurrent MOT (not loads but hey its there)Towbar fitted (Only ever used by me)Banded steels wheels (Professionally made) worth fair few quid aloneFully insulated inside. Warm in winter cool in summer.Tongue and grove panelling insideSwivel seats in the front to maximise space
I've owned this van for many years now, it's been all over the country and never let me down. Previously owned by Bexley Council as youth service minibus where was one of it's main drivers. As council bus it was serviced every six months regardless of its little use and wanting for nothing. purchased it directly from the council after it was believed it needed fair bit of work for an MOT. The council bought MK7 and bought tyre and battery and it sailed through its MOT with few advisories for yes youve guessed it, rust.In my ownership Ive carried out all the service work myself. It's had oil and filter every and just required the basic service items as wished to keep it good for years. The DOHC petrol engine is sweet as nut with the benefits of speed, power and not having to shout at each other over the roar from the fantastic though noisey diesel engined mk5's. It's also has meant have been able to carry on driving it in greater London since the emissions shenanigans came about.Over the last few years on top of the regular oil changes its had plugs and leads, new water pump and coolant, brake hoses and lines, air filters, new top quality battery, expensive Monroe rear shock absorbers pre last years MOT, catalitic converter, prop shaft main bearing, new door locks, fuel cap lock and ignition. No doubt other bits I've forgot.
Body work. Some would say it's clean for mk5 haha. Set of wings and arches have been on the cards for while though tbh I've put my efforts into keeping it running sweet and solid underneath and never got around to it. The panels are all available cheaply and this bus is good base for full on resto if you're so inclined. It's had fair bit of welding underneath keeping the chassis rails sweet, always cutting out all the old rot and replacing with good steel before sealing up again, no over the rust plating as whats the point. Offside sill needs patch where backed into curb and ripped the mudflap off, though think that is about it. It does have very little filler in the side door after blemish was cut out and patch welded in. Also much to my shame did chuck some filler in the front nearside arch for the last MOT as have mentioned previous never got around to the tarting up of the top side. The interior has front swivel seats from ford galaxy and has been fully insulated in celotex and tounge and grove panelled. Slept in it many times and always cosy. Its been through many guises as camper as the family have grown and currently has vw seat bed though this belongs to mate who knows its value so the van will be sold as blank canvas for you to do as you wish. He may let the bed go by separate negotiation though like say knows its worth.I had the wheels banded by pro and they are top quality, two and half inchs wider all around which gives wider track and bigger footprint with the 205 tyres. The whitewalls were saved from an oldsmobile before it went banger racing as liked the look of them. They are not in the best of nick it must be said but do have set of four good tyres which had bought new and had been on the van less than year before fitted the white walls. These will go with the van.Side exit exhaust, wooden rear step which is useful as reversing sensor or for sitting on when drinking tea as well as getting in and out.Sliding rear window.
Will be very sorry to let this one go, it is going up in value. Widely regarding as one of the best vans made. I've got whole load of other projects and commitments and no space to store this so thats that, it's got to go. Sad times. It's got bit of ticket left on it so can be driven away. It's never let me down and would be confident to drive it anywhere. Currently on SORN as inherited new smaller van and didn't need to be paying for the both when can only drive one.
Viewing welcome, message me for details more pics or quires.I'll add more pics when can. Interior pics especially, currently being used as storage somewhat whilst house renovations take place, hope to clear it out tomorrow though may go out on mx bike instead so dont hold me to that!
On 25-Apr-19 at 08:31:46 BST, seller added the following information:Going to make time this eve to add some more pictures as promised and requested, been busy old week work wise and haven't had the chance. Apologies. I'll get some interior pics and pics of the underside, steps etc.
There has been few questions on email of whats my best price and what I'd take to let it go today and such like. I'm going to let the auction run. Pretty sure it'll meet the reserve and sell to the highest bidder.
More pics soon
Kind regards
