We have completely renovated the van from standard white van to kitted out camper (it has also been changed on the category vehicle on the V5 log book to "Motor Caravan" which makes the insurance lot cheaper).
We have had many great trips up to the lakes and stayed in farmers fields running off grid as well as on Caravan Club sites with mains hook up and not once has she let us down.
Van Interior
The floor, ceiling and walls were all insulated. The walls and ceilings were then covered in wood cladding.
The van has both mains hookup and 12V battery system.
There is master control panel for the electrics in the van located at the end of the kitchen.
There are LED lights down the length of the van. They are remote controlled and battery powered for ease of use.
There is roof light located over the kitchen area with in built electric fan (Fiamma Turbo Vent Premium CRYSTAL).
The sink located in the kitchen area runs from canister located below it with an electric pump in side it and waste water feeds in to canister next to that.
There is 5KW all in one diesel heater located in the rear that feeds air in to the kitchen so you can be lovely and warm on cold nights.
The battery also charges when the you are driving the van or when it is connected up to the mains using the hook up.
The bed is KING SIZE with nice chunk of storage down the side of it where we store our clothes.Instead of building giant wooden frame as many camper builders do, ours is built with metal bars with the brackets attached to the van using industrial rivets.
There is loads of storage under the bed so you can transport everything you could need (within reason).
In the front cabin it is very much as it was from the manufacturer in terms of spec, the main thing we added was reverse camera which is must when parking on site. The seats are in great condition and there aren't any tears or massively obvious signs of wear.
Points to be aware of with the interiorThis entire van has been done by camper enthusiasts, this means as much as we think it looks stunning it isn't professionally sculpted £70k camper so not everything is perfect so if that is what you are expecting then don't waste your time. Sorry to be blunt here but do think it is best said now.
The Van Exterior
We have installed four windows in total. One on each side and in the rear. The window on the drivers side behind the kitchen also has slide opening window.
Only 12 weeks ago we had the entire van professionally resprayed in beautiful Audi grey. It really does look stunning!
The bumpers have all been resprayed in black.
The wheel have all been resprayed in silver.
All brake discs, pads and pipes were replaced months ago.Hand brake cables and shoes replaced months ago. A full service was done months ago as well.
Points to be aware of with the engineThe only issue we have it the oil level light comes on and beeps couple of times on start of the van. This has been inspected by the garage and we have been told it is faulty sensor which can be easily replaced when the oil is changed next with little effort.Other then that the engine is brilliant, it drives superbly well. There is no smoke or strange noises of any sort. These engines are brilliant so with proper maintenance it will just keep going.
