This is our much loved Autohomes Avalon campervan ‘Otto’,based on 1991 Fiat Ducato panel van with low mileage of 35,858, MOT untilMarch 2020 and only two previous owners. We bought this van just over two years ago and it has never let us downincluding over 2600 miles across Europe from Holland through Germany,Switzerland, France and over the Pyrenees into Spain in May 2018, and we’verecently completed 1500+ mile round trip to Scotland from the south coastwithout hitch. This is in addition to countless weekend trips away in the UKand northern France. We’re only selling due to the impulsive purchase of alarger motorhome, having thoroughly caught the campervan bug. We’ll be verysorry to part with Otto but he’d be great ‘starter’ camper for anyone whowants to try it out without breaking the bank. Otto is designed as berth camper in compact size of4.80m long, 1.98m wide and 2.64m high. You could feasibly ‘wild camp’ in thisvan for several days without needing to rely on mains hook-up thanks to the manyfeatures. These include: burner gas hob with grill
Good size gas oven
Carver Cascade gas/230v mains water heater with litre reservoir
Propex gas heating
Electric hook-up with Zig unit, 12v lighting and 2x mains sockets
Split charger system with leisure battery
Electrolux 3-way fridge (gas, mains and 12v)
Rear washroom with Thetford cassette toilet, flip down basin with hot/cold waterand pull out shower
Galley sink with hot/cold water and draining board
82 litre fresh water tank
36 litre underslung waste water tank
Gas locker under the wardrobe for 2x Campingaz 907 cylinders
Bike rack for two bikes
4x travelling seats (rear seats have lap belts only)During the day the front seats swivel round and you can havefour people sitting and/or dining around the two tables. There is mid-mounted‘kitchen’ area with the sink, drainer and fridge on one side and the oven, hoband grill on the other as well as plenty of storage cupboards and wardrobe. At the rear of is washroom that can be closed off to the rest of the van andconsists of cassette toilet, flip down basin with extendable shower headtap and removable cover revealing shower tray in the floor. At night the front seats can be folded flat and the rearseats pull out to make two singles. Alternatively you can use the extra cushionand tables across the rear seats to make large double. We use mattresstopper and it is very comfortable. There is second double bed in the highroof, which you make using pull out boards that store over the cab, and it isaccessed via small ladder. We’ve only used this once and would say it’s reallyonly suitable for children. The van will come with the drive-away awningpictured, which has its own sleeping compartment. That way you can have twopeople sleeping in the van and two or more in the awning. The van itself is 1991 Fiat Ducato 2.0L petrol with5-speed manual gearbox. These are essentially the same vehicles as the morecommon Talbot Express. They are cheap and simple to maintain without anycomplex electronics and parts are readily available. The van has stack ofservice history and during our ownership I’ve carried out regular oil changesand have recently changed the gearbox oil. During our ownership it has had newtyres, new starter and leisure batteries, new exhaust manifold and new engineand gearbox mounts (both common issues). We’ve carried out fair amount of work to the van including painting all the woodwork duck egg blue, installing new carpet, replacing the headlining and recovering the seats. The bodywork is generally tidy with some rust in the usualplaces which I’ve treated with Waxoyl, but it is clean underneath andmechanically sound. There is crunch changing up into third gear but this canbe avoided by changing up gently.
Please bear in mind that the van is nearly 30 years old. It doesn’t have power steering and needs to be allowed to warm up on cold days, but once you’re used to it and take things at slower pace, it is goodfun. Please bear all this in mind when bidding. We would encourage anyone toview the van and ensure they’re happy before committing. The van will come with the large drive away awning, 2x Campingaz907 cylinders (one full and one empty), wheel levelling blocks, thermalblinds for the cab and mains hook-up lead. All you need is your own bedding, clothes, food and pots and pans and you’re good to go for the summer break! Payment by cash on collection or bank transfer, with deposit  of £250 within 24 hours of the auction ending. We are happy to answer any questions or send additional photos on request.
