am sellinga 1969 Siesta pop up camping trailer…all original and the only one of its kindI have ever seen.  This unique trailer willhave heads turning everywhere you and people are shocked to see it whenlowered.   was told that is one of thefirst all metal "high lo" type trailers.  This is NOT tent trailer; it is all metal sidedhard shell that raises and lowers via manual cranking mechanism and cables whichworks great, making it easy for towing and storage.  I got this gem from the granddaughter of the originalowners in amazing original condition but in need of lots of cleaning and work.   The back window is filled with the decals oftheir transcontinental family trips which is part of the charm. It is only 15ft long but amazingly fits in:·       beds (couch pulls out to bed, kitchen table lowers to make bed, and thereis bunk bed for the little ones that come down over the kitchen table which Ihave always used for storage bins on long trips.   I alsohave the original bunk bed railing which is taken apart and just missing thescrews.·       Seats with couch and table·       refrigerator that runs on either 120VAC or Propane.   used the refrigeratortwice and found on the coolest setting actually froze liquid solid.  It also has an little ice box with theoriginal ice cube trays that came with trailer.·       burner stove with oven.  Oven looks brand new and has the originalbroiling tray (and label it came with) and has with little rust from aleaking vent lid when it was stored before got it.·       Double sink with mirror·       16 Gallon water tank with 12V waterpump (and hand pump if there is no battery power).  Clean tank fills from outside intake!·       TONS of storage: Large closet withtowel rack, storage under couch and above couch and to side of couch.  Large storage under both table seats and behindone seat, kitchen drawers and upper shelf, and an external storage area thatlocks.·       Great lighting options:  There are three 12V lights and two 120Vlights for when you’re plugged in.·       Original linoleum in great shape.  All original cushions/fabric.·       120v outlet on kitchen counter forwhen plugged it and one of the 120V lights also has plug.·       There is no bathroom, but the originalowners used to keep porta potty in the closet.·       way 12V outlet, aoooga horn, blueLED light strip on front door awning, external port allowing charging tobattery or running items off battery are among the customizations made forit.·       Spare tire is unused and trailer hasbeen stored on jacks without sun on tires so they are in good shape.·       Comes with Ball shaft with anti-sway torsionbars with brackets which add lot of stability and value (I see used ones for $275)·       Come with Ball shaft lock, tonguelock, and sets of keys for them as well as outer storage compartment, frontdoor, and padlock for safety chains.·       Has pull out step to get in, and Dutch(split doors) for keeping in kids/pets and still have the open feeling.·       Front has adjustable awning for shadeand privacy (great view while at the dining table.·       Windows are tinted (other than frontunder awning) and you’ll get the blue curtains which covered every window whenI got it as well as the reflective trimmed auto shades made for each window.  All glass is in great shape, not crack orissues.·       Comes with the original Craftsman ratchetfor operating the rear jacks and the two old freestanding jacks for tongue·       made in welding class an emergencyextra crank in case you lose the original one which  also stakes into ground just in case youwanted to stop winding it before it goes all the way up which is when it locks.  ·       am throwing in thick Tempurpedic mattresstopper for couch bed if you want it·       You get my spare light bulbs…all new!  Two old but unused fuses for the 120V system.  The half-length broom that came with it &trash can.  Two wheel chocks. ·       Very cool original 1969 papers…and allmy notes and cheat sheet for using it right.·       91" wide by 173" long forbody and 206" long to tip of tongue …..roughly 7.5 ft by 17 ft I bought this gem in2009, and got new tires (spare tire is still new and never been put on), hadthe bearings repacked, and spent months hitting old trailer supply storesgetting the original no longer made such as courtesy light covers and did manysmall replacements such as door holders, all the foam that seals the top and bottomwhen in the up position, the one vent lift mechanism,  replaced propane adapter and hose to hard pipe, outside compartment lock, 12 volt wiring (including adding some customizations andinline fuses), and cleaned and lubed it.   From 2009 thru 2012 when tracked what spent, put $1287 into it along with countless hours.   It has been fantastic trailer for me and havetaken to Burning Man three times and many local Southern California festival manytimes, some camping.  You just parkit, crank it up, level it with the jacks...and BAM you got the killer pad.   In October of 2014, parked my trailer at afriend’s property and haven’t used it since.  After 20 years had to retired my Ford Explorer and now don’t have vehicleto tow it, so am offering up this gem in hopes that someone will continue it’slegacy and restoration.  My insurance isonly $9 every months with State farm.  Registered thru June 30th.   Itowed it with V8 Explorer, prior owner towed it with V6 Toyota Runner.  As this listing only allowed 24 pictures, please email me and will reply with links to albums of pictures put onDropbox.  took the pictures on thislisting on 3/4/17 (other than the pictures of it lowered which are from 2010and the condition issue pics which took on 3/28/17).   The condition issue pics shows visually whatI am discussing on below in Restoration notes.     *****PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THESEALBUMS BEFORE BIDDING as they are part of the listing*****
Restoration notes:The prior owners took off theoriginal electric hook up and put the standard flat connector forthe lights.   The trailer came withbrakes when he rewired to prong, it removed their operation and havenever had them looked at or addressed the brakes (it was on my list…never had aproblem stopping with my Ford Explorer mostly like because the anti-sway barsreally help lot).  There was also someactivator that took off and saved for the brakes.   Irewired the pin connector harness and made spare harness complete withplug as it is such critical thing to have.  One of the front crank windows doesn’t work on the crank but stays openor closed by moving it manually, other window cranks well and all other windowswork fine. The corners of the upper shell need some sealing as the back twohave water damage.   just replaced muchof the foam that receives the top for protection while being transported.   The jack shaft in front got little bentand needs to be hammered back to receive the wheel that goes on it to make iteasier to move the tongue around.   One ofthe two plastic vent covers need to be replaced immediately (just cover with plasticand tape to transport it) and it was tricky to get on so modified it both ofthe times I  put new ones on…easy to do…othervent cover seem solid.   suggest metal ventcovers as the plastic ones just don’t last long…these two are from July 2013.  The lights are wire and use the shell ofthe camper as the ground…I had all of them working prior to storage, but whendust and dirt gets between the fixtures and shell, you’ll need to clean it outand tweak the fixtures to get them all to light… didn’t test them but am suresome of the courtesies will need to cleaned/adjusted.  Break lights and turn signals always workedwithout issue.  All the courtesy light coversare there and only one has piece broken off and actually have that one in anew spare found at vintage trailer store ;-)...so you’re all set. There are few of the guide track insertsthat are broken (See pics of guide tracks in condition issue album).  tried to make one from scratch and when Itested while it alone was on the side of trailer cranking it and when it gotstuck and had no one to hold the crank while walked around to unstick it, Ihad no choice but to let it rip out from the side bottom of lid (have all the hardwareand piece).  This is the only real physicaldamage to the trailer other than on the front upper it trailer clipped lowbranch and the trim is slightly bent  (VERY MINOR, just need pliers) and can easilybe bent back.  Again pics show bothissues.  Around the back window there iswater damage which the prior owner told me was from it being towed and watersplashing up between the seam of top and receiving bracket which needed new foam at the time.   In my time using it, never saw wetness aroundback window.   The corners of the upperpart do show water exposure and do believe they upper part need to have it’sseams sealed which was top of my list didn’t get to.   Also the one vent cover over the dining tableshows exposure to moisture which had to happen during the last years ofsitting and likely just needs to be caulked around it.   We did have some major storms with wind andrain in Feb.   am deathly allergic tomold and mildew and there is no scent of either in the trailer…I would know!    Batteryhas been on float charger for years while not using, put in back in on 3/4/17to test water pump and dome lights…both working….and when went back on 3/28to snap few more pics…it still had power to run both again.   Paneling is in pretty good shape all over but got scraped off on side ofcouch (not visible until you put it down to make it bed), on door fronts and overfront door.  This had the coolest 1969fabric and it has worn though in areas of most use (see pics).  There is little front door light that operateson switch inside which wired to strip of bright low-power blue LEDs underthe awning so the white light is no longer active and the LEDS operate on the originalswitch.  It originally came with bucklesto secure top to bottom, but they were missing, when got it…and completely unnecessary…the top is heavy enough to stay in place.  This trailer has GREAT bones and is ready for your aesthetic restorationand brakes. Winning bidder must make $300 Paypal deposit and payment in full within days of end of auction (paying cash in person or Paypal...no checks or money orders) and pick up Trailer in Escondido, CA 92025within 14 days (unless other arrangements are made between us).   have detailed to the best of my knowledgeany condition issues and have been totally forthright and honest in doingso.   That said this trailer is 48 yearsold and has been sitting unused for over years and my experience in using itis from over years ago and this is an as is sale.   I have no reason to believe there will be anydifference in performance of trailer given my visual inspection.   opened it up and inspected it on 3/4/17and went back on 3/28/17 to do close ups on listed condition issues.   If youhave any questions at all please ask, PLEASE ask me by Thursday afternoon as if don't know off hand, can go to the Trailer Thurs night and get your questions answered Thurs night before Friday end of auction.   want the buyer of this gem to be excited andthrilled and to give me positive feedback which is why have spent hours making this listing so long and thorough.   4/3/17 My seller settings don't allow buyers without PayPal accounts to bid on this listing.   Id you don't have Paypal account, it's free and easy to sign up for one.
4/5/17 The trailer does NOT have heater or AC.   Lots of windows, Dutch door, and roof vents allow for great air flow and used 12V fan that really helped in high heat.   For Burningman, made PVC frame that went around the trailer and then put aluminet over the the frame, keeping the trailer much cooler as aluminet keeps out 95% of UV's and still allows air flow and light through.   will include for free the PVC frame if anyone wants it, but am not including the aluminet.
